As the rest of Canada celebrates the nation’s 142nd birthday today, a Vice President of the Canadian Arab Federation has labelled the country a “genocidal state” and the described its national day as “F**k Canada Day.”
Tarek Fatah wrote those opening words in his article describing the actions of prominent members of the Canadian Arab Federation.
How can this organization, or the individuals, call themselves Canadian? Do they have no sense of national pride, or do they simply want the lifestyle Canada offers, without actually becoming Canadian? Even if the latter is true, couldn’t they at least show a little respect to the country they call home?
Omar Shaban, who lives in Vancouver, BC made these comments on his Facebook page, declaring, “It’s finally Canada Day … Couldn’t be more ashamed to be Canadian.”
Yesterday, the Facebook status of the CAF vice president welcomed July 1, 2009 with the slogan, “Happy Genocide Day Canada.”
I’m proud to be Canadian. We have our problems, but it’s not too late to fix them and keep the country we love. It’s time all the people who live in Canada — Canadians; whether they be born here or immigrate from other counties — treat Canada as their HOME, a place where they can live and raise a family while enjoying freedom of speech, religion, and many luxuries not found in other parts of the world. It’s time people stop abusing these rights and privileges for their own selfish gain. Living here also comes with responsibilities.
CHP Canada will protect the rights and freedoms we enjoy in this country, and will protect the founding principles which made this country the envy of the world, drawing people from all corners of the globe. We need to vote CHP Canada into Parliament to enact this protection before Canada finally becomes one of the very countries people were trying to leave in the first place.
