School Principal Cancels Singing of National Anthem

The principal at Belleisle Elementary School has cancelled the singing of our national anthem each morning just because a couple parents complained. What is our country coming to when our kids can’t even sing our national anthem in school?!

I’d like to know why these parents feel it’s so bad to be patriotic. Apparently their problem has to do with “God” being mentioned in the lyrics. Oh, come on! If you REALLY don’t want your kids to sing it, fine. Request that they be allowed to just stand there or even be excused, but don’t take away a sense of national pride from everyone else!

If you live in Canada, then show support for your country! Sure, we have lot’s of problems — there’s no denying that — but Canadians today seem to want all the advantages of Canada without having to “be Canadian”. (Not all mind you, but the press coverage makes it seem this way.) They want to change the country to suit them rather than adapting to the country. Canada was formed on Christian principles, and it’s time we reaffirm this and stop trying to be “politically correct”! It’s time to BE CANADIAN. Stand up, be proud, and say I AM CANADIAN!

[Note: The National Anthem is once again being sung at the school, but should this controversy have ever happened in the first place? I think not.]
